The Hyundai Creta EV is all set to make its mark in India soon, becoming the third electric vehicle from the South Korean automaker after the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the now-discontinued Kona EV. Senior Hyundai officials have confirmed that the launch is just around the corner, with the much-anticipated debut expected at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo.

Hyundai Creta EV: New Spy Shots Reveal Key Design Elements

A new set of spy images have surfaced online, offering a glimpse of the test mule for the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. Captured by a Facebook user, the images showcase the rear design of the vehicle, heavily camouflaged yet revealing certain key features. The electric SUV retains the iconic exterior shape of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. Notable features include:

  • Connected Taillights: Offering a modern touch to the rear design.
  • High-Mounted Stop Lamp: Enhancing visibility and safety.
  • Shark-Fin Antenna: Adding to the sporty aesthetics of the SUV.

Hyundai Creta EV: Positioned Above ICE Creta

The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be positioned as a premium offering above the ICE Creta, with a price difference of around ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh. This strategic move comes after Hyundai decided to discontinue the Kona EV, paving the way for the Creta EV in the Indian market. Unlike the latest-generation Kona EV sold overseas, Hyundai has chosen to focus on the Creta EV for the Indian audience.

Expected Powertrain and Battery Specifications

While official details about the powertrain and battery pack remain undisclosed, industry experts speculate that the Creta EV may inherit the setup from the new Kona EV. This would likely feature:

  • 138 hp Electric Motor: Delivering robust performance for city and highway driving.
  • 48 kWh Battery Pack: Providing a balanced range for daily commutes and long drives.

Competition Heating Up in the EV Segment

Upon its launch, the Hyundai Creta EV will go head-to-head with other popular electric SUVs in India, such as the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV. The competition is expected to further intensify with the arrival of the Honda Elevate EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, and the Tata Harrier EV.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Creta EV is shaping up to be a promising new addition to the mass-market electric SUV segment in India. With a design similar to its ICE counterpart and a strong electric powertrain, it is poised to offer a compelling alternative to its rivals. As the launch draws near, more details are expected to surface, building anticipation among EV enthusiasts.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official launch of the Hyundai Creta EV.
