Price Revision Details

The biggest jump has been recorded in the entry-level petrol 4×2 manual variant, now dearer by ₹68,000. Several diesel variants, including the 4×2 manual and automatic, 4×4 manual, and the top-spec GR-S 4×4 AT, have all received a uniform price bump of ₹40,000. The Legender, Toyota’s sportier-looking Fortuner version, hasn’t been spared either, with both the 4×2 AT and 4×4 MT variants also witnessing a ₹40,000 hike.

After the revision:

  • Petrol 4×2 AT now costs ₹36.05 lakh
  • Diesel variants start at ₹36.73 lakh and go up to ₹52.34 lakh (top-end GR-S 4×4 AT)
  • Legender is priced between ₹44.51 lakh and ₹50.09 lakh
    (All prices are ex-showroom)

Fortuner NeoDrive Mild-Hybrid Launch

The price hike closely follows the launch of the new Fortuner NeoDrive, a diesel mild-hybrid variant priced at ₹44.72 lakh. This model is part of Toyota’s push toward electrification, aiming to offer improved fuel efficiency without compromising on power. The mild-hybrid system is available with the 2.8-litre diesel engine, which continues to deliver 201 bhp and up to 500 Nm of torque with the automatic transmission.

Engine and Performance

The Fortuner retains its tried-and-tested powertrain lineup:

  • 2.8-litre diesel engine: 201 bhp / 420 Nm (manual) or 500 Nm (automatic)
  • 2.7-litre petrol engine: 164 bhp / 245 Nm (available only with a 6-speed AT)

The diesel variant now gets the added benefit of mild-hybrid technology in the NeoDrive version, potentially offering improved mileage and reduced emissions.

Sales Milestone

In addition to the price update, Toyota recently celebrated a major achievement — crossing the 3 lakh sales milestone for the Fortuner in India. Since its debut in 2009, the Fortuner has remained one of the most popular full-size SUVs in the Indian market, known for its reliability, road presence, and off-road capability.

Conclusion: Toyota Price Hike

With the launch of the NeoDrive mild-hybrid variant and a fresh price revision, Toyota is repositioning the Fortuner to keep up with market expectations and upcoming emission norms. Despite the price hike, the Fortuner continues to be a strong contender in the premium SUV segment, backed by Toyota’s reputation for durability and performance. Whether you’re considering the rugged diesel or the feature-rich Legender, the Fortuner’s appeal remains as strong as ever.
