Ducati India has announced a recall of 393 units of its flagship superbikes, the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4. The recall is part of a global campaign addressing a potential defect in the rear wheel axle of the single-sided swingarm.
Ducati Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 Recalled in India
What Models Are Affected?
The recall in India covers:
- Ducati Panigale V4 (model years 2018 to 2024)
- Ducati Streetfighter V4 (model years 2018 to 2025)
Ducati India has confirmed that owners of motorcycles with affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) are being contacted directly.
Global Recall Background
The recall follows a worldwide investigation by Ducati after the first axle failure was reported in September 2023. Since then, 11 cases were examined globally, but extensive testing could not replicate the issue. Out of precaution, Ducati introduced a more robust rear wheel shaft in production and is recalling over 10,000 units in North America alone for free axle replacement.
Ducati’s Proactive Measures
In 2024 and 2025, Ducati conducted sample collections across different markets to understand the root cause. In August 2025, Ducati’s internal safety commission decided to proceed with a worldwide recall to ensure rider safety.
Updated Swingarm Design in 2025 Models
Interestingly, the 2025 Ducati Panigale V4 has moved away from the single-sided swingarm. It now features a new hollow symmetrical swingarm that reduces lateral stiffness by 37 percent, offering improved grip, better stability, and sharper handling. However, this design change is not related to the recall issue.
What Owners Should Do
Owners of affected Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 motorcycles should reach out to their nearest Ducati dealership. The rear wheel axle replacement will be carried out free of charge as part of the recall campaign.
Conclusion
Ducati’s decision to issue a global recall highlights the brand’s strong focus on rider safety and long-term reliability. While only a limited number of failures have been reported, the precautionary step ensures that riders of the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 can continue to enjoy the performance and thrill of their motorcycles with complete confidence.
