All about Triumph Tiger Sport 800

Power and Performance

At the heart of the Tiger Sport 800 lies a 798 cc inline-triple engine. This powerhouse produces an impressive 113.43 bhp at 10,750 rpm and a peak torque of 95 Nm at 8,250 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, complemented by a slipper clutch and quickshifter, ensuring seamless gear changes. With the ride-by-wire system, riders can choose from three distinct ride modes: Road, Rain, and Sport, catering to varying riding conditions and preferences.

Design and Comfort

In terms of aesthetics, the Tiger Sport 800 shares a striking resemblance with its sibling, the Tiger Sport 660. The motorcycle features a sporty tourer design, characterized by a twin LED headlamp, a tall manually-adjustable visor, and a wide stepped saddle. The lightweight aluminium alloy wheels enhance agility, while the upright riding stance, centre-set footpegs, and wide handlebars provide exceptional comfort on long rides.

Technology and Instrumentation

The Tiger Sport 800 is equipped with modern technology to enhance the riding experience. The all-digital instrumentation comprises an LCD unit for essential information and a color TFT unit for accessing settings, smartphone connectivity, music, and turn-by-turn navigation. This intuitive interface ensures riders have all necessary information at their fingertips.

Suspension and Braking

For optimal handling, the top-spec variant of the Tiger Sport 800 comes with Showa USD forks that are fully adjustable, providing 150 mm of travel. The rear suspension features a monoshock with external preload adjustment, also offering 150 mm of travel. When it comes to stopping power, the motorcycle is equipped with 310 mm twin discs at the front paired with four-piston calipers and a 225 mm single disc at the rear with a single piston sliding caliper.

Safety and Rider Aids

Triumph has prioritized rider safety with features like optimized cornering ABS, switchable traction control, and cruise control. These electronic rider aids enhance confidence and control, especially in challenging riding conditions.

Pricing and Availability of Triumph Tiger Sport 800

Having already launched in European markets at a price of £12,620, the Tiger Sport 800 is expected to hit Indian shores by the end of 2024. Considering the pricing of the Tiger Sport 660 at Rs 9.58 lakh, the Tiger Sport 800 is anticipated to be priced around Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a competitive option in the sport touring segment.

Competition

The Tiger Sport 800 will face stiff competition from notable rivals such as the Honda NX500, Kawasaki Versys 650, BMW F900XR, Ducati Multistrada V2, and Suzuki V-Strom 800DE. Its blend of power, performance, and technology positions it as a formidable contender in this segment.

Conclusion: Triumph Tiger Sport 800

With the introduction of the Triumph Tiger Sport 800, the brand continues to deliver motorcycles that cater to the needs of sport touring enthusiasts. Its powerful engine, advanced features, and comfortable design make it an exciting option for riders looking for adventure on the open road. Keep an eye out for its official launch in India later this year!
