Having debuted the updated G-Class globally in March 2024, Mercedes-Benz has now added the facelifted AMG G 63 SUV to its Indian lineup, priced at Rs 3.60 crore (ex-showroom) before any options. This new G 63 features subtle cosmetic enhancements compared to its predecessor and comes with several new features. Notably, its price is lower than the final edition of the outgoing model, the G 63 Grand Edition, which was priced at Rs 4 crore .

Exterior and Performance

The 2025 G 63 showcases minor exterior updates, including modifications to the grille, updated bumpers, and new wheel designs. Significant changes occur beneath the surface, where the familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine is now integrated with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The power output remains at 577 bhp and 850 Nm, with the hybrid system providing an extra 20 bhp during hard acceleration. Mercedes claims a swift 0-100 km/h time of just 4.3 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.

Suspension and Features

The suspension system has been upgraded with new adaptive dampers and a hydraulics-based roll stabilization system to enhance ride quality. For the first time, the G 63 is equipped with a ‘Race Start’ function, enabling launch control. Additionally, it features the latest MBUX infotainment system, highlighted by a new 12.3-inch central touchscreen—an industry first for the G 63. The updated graphics include a redesigned off-road control unit, providing drivers with essential information for off-road adventures. This unit also introduces a transparent hood function, utilizing an underbody camera to help drivers visualize terrain and obstacles hidden under the SUV’s bonnet. Other amenities include Mercedes’ new Augmented Reality Navigation system, a 760 W Burmester 3D sound system, customizable ambient lighting, and 360-degree cameras.

Safety Features

On the safety front, the new G 63 includes a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance systems alongside various passive safety technologies.

Interior and Customization

The interior features minor cosmetic updates, such as a redesigned steering wheel and revised switchgear on the center console. Buyers can choose from a variety of exterior colors, upholstery options, and wheel designs through Mercedes’ Manufaktur customization program, allowing for a personalized touch.

Sales and Future Plans

Mercedes reports that the first batch of over 120 units of the 2025 AMG G 63 arriving in India has already sold out. Bookings are now open for the second batch, expected to arrive in Q3 2025. This launch marks Mercedes’ thirteenth introduction in the Indian market for 2024, with one more model from its Top-End Vehicle (TEV) range—including G-Class, S-Class, and Maybach models—set to launch by the end of the year.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the launch of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG G 63 in India marks an exciting addition to the luxury SUV segment, combining refined aesthetics with advanced performance features. Priced at Rs 3.60 crore, this facelifted model offers a compelling mix of power, including the integration of a 48V mild-hybrid system, enhanced driving dynamics through upgraded suspension, and cutting-edge technology with the latest MBUX infotainment system. With its impressive blend of luxury, customization options, and safety innovations, the G 63 is set to appeal to discerning buyers, solidifying Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to delivering exceptional vehicles in the Indian market. As demand surges, the anticipation for the next batch of this high-performance SUV further underscores its status as a desirable choice among luxury enthusiasts.
