Upcoming Cars and SUVs Arriving This Festive Season in India

This festive season is set to be a thrilling time for car enthusiasts in India, with several new cars and SUVs, including electric vehicles (EVs) and new-generation models, scheduled for launch. Here’s a closer look at the upcoming Cars and SUVs from renowned brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Mini, Nissan, Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, and Citroen.

Mercedes-Benz EQA

Launching on July 8, the Mercedes-Benz EQA will be the brand’s fourth EV in India, following the EQB SUV, EQE SUV, and EQS sedan. The India-spec EQA’s specifications are yet to be confirmed, but internationally, it offers variants like EQA 250, EQA 250+, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic. The EQA’s battery packs range from 66.5kWh to 70.5kWh, providing a maximum range of up to 560km. It will compete with the Volvo XC40 Recharge and BMW iX1.

BMW 5 Series LWB

The new 5 Series sedan, set to launch on July 24, will feature a long-wheelbase (LWB) version for the first time in India, replacing both the outgoing 5 Series and the 6 Series GT. The 530Li M Sport variant will be the first to hit the market, expected to be priced higher than the current 6 Series GT. With a length of 5,175mm and a wheelbase of 3,105mm, it will be the largest car in its segment.

Mini will unveil the new-gen Cooper S hatchback on July 8, followed by the all-electric SE version. The petrol-powered Cooper S will feature a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 204hp and 300Nm of torque. The Mini Countryman Electric, sharing its underpinnings with the BMW iX1, will offer both single-motor (204hp) and dual-motor (313hp) versions with a 66.45kWh battery.

Nissan X-Trail

Nissan’s fourth-gen X-Trail, set for a launch in the coming months, will be available with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 204hp and 305Nm of torque. The X-Trail aims to maintain consumer interest while Nissan prepares a new lineup of vehicles for 2025.

Mahindra Thar 5-door

Expected to launch soon, the Mahindra Thar 5-door, possibly named Thar Armada, will offer more cabin space and luggage room than the 3-door version. It will feature multiple powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre diesel, a 2.0-litre petrol, and a 2.2-litre diesel, with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Set to be launched in September, the Hyundai Alcazar facelift will feature design updates aligned with the Creta facelift, a new dashboard with connected digital displays, and advanced features like ADAS, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. It will continue with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.

Tata Curvv EV

The Tata Curvv EV, debuting in the second quarter of FY2025, will be a longer and more spacious SUV coupe compared to the Nexon. Expected to offer a range of 450-500km, the Curvv will compete with the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Launching in September, the new-gen Maruti Dzire will feature a completely redesigned rear end and differentiated design elements from the Swift. It will be powered by the Z Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, continuing with the 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes.

Kia EV9 and Next-gen Kia Carnival

The Kia EV9, expected in August-September, is a large three-row SUV with a 99.8kWh battery offering a range of up to 563km. It will be available in RWD and AWD versions. The next-gen Kia Carnival, also expected around the same time, will feature a more rugged design, a minimalistic interior with dual 12.3-inch displays, and a 201hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Citroen Basalt

Citroen’s new Basalt, expected to launch in September, shares its underpinnings with the C3 Aircross but offers a unique coupe-like design. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 110hp and 205Nm of torque, available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
