The Hyundai Creta has once again proven its dominance in the Indian automotive market. In April 2025, the popular SUV became the highest-selling passenger vehicle in India for the second consecutive month, reinforcing its stronghold on the SUV segment.
Creta Drives Hyundai’s Success in April 2025
Hyundai sold a total of 17,016 units of the Creta and the newly launched Creta EV in April 2025. These figures represent 70.9% of Hyundai’s total domestic sales for the month—a significant milestone for the brand.
From January to April 2025, the Creta maintained its top position as India’s best-selling SUV, with cumulative sales of 69,914 units. This consistent performance further cements its status as a customer favorite.
Creta EV Adds a Spark to the Brand
The introduction of the Creta EV earlier this year has played a key role in boosting the brand’s appeal. By offering both internal combustion and electric variants, Hyundai is not only meeting varied consumer demands but also positioning itself as a key player in India’s transition towards electric mobility.
Official Statement from Hyundai
Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO at Hyundai Motor India Ltd., stated:
“Hyundai Creta’s continued dominance in the Indian market is a reflection of the trust and love that Indian customers have placed in the brand. The addition of the electric powertrain has further strengthened the brand Creta, making it a key enabler in India’s electric mobility journey.”
Hyundai’s Overall Performance in April 2025
While the Creta continues to shine, Hyundai’s total domestic sales stood at 44,374 units, with 16,400 units exported, totaling 60,774 units in April 2025. This marks a 4% year-on-year decline in total sales, although exports saw a 21% increase, up from 13,500 units in April 2024.
A Legacy of Milestones
Hyundai recently celebrated reaching 9 million domestic vehicle sales since entering the Indian market in 1996. Starting with the iconic Santro, Hyundai has steadily built a reputation for reliability, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
Conclusion
The Hyundai Creta’s remarkable performance, both in sales and consumer perception, highlights the model’s unmatched value in the Indian SUV segment. With strong demand, the inclusion of an electric variant, and growing consumer trust, the Creta continues to be a defining force in India’s automotive landscape.
