New Kawasaki Z1100 Spotted Testing – Z1000’s Big Brother Arrives

3 Min Read

Motorcycle enthusiasts may already be aware that Kawasaki is expanding its 1000cc segment to 1100cc, with new models like the Versys 1100 and Ninja 1100 in the pipeline. Until now, there was no official word on the Z series, but given Kawasaki’s legacy, it’s unlikely they’ll skip launching a streetfighter on this updated platform.

New CARB Filing Hints at Z1100

A recent document from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has revealed that Kawasaki is working on four 1100cc models—two Ninjas, one Versys, and a fourth codenamed ZR1100HT. This last one is strongly believed to be the upcoming Z1100, a flagship naked sportbike.

What the Code Reveals

For those familiar with Kawasaki’s naming system, “ZR” refers to the Z series bikes. The 2003 Z1000 was ZR1000-A1, and its successor was ZR1000-A2. The new ZR1100HT follows this naming trend. The “T” likely designates the 2025 model year, while the “H” appears to be a new sub-variant identifier.

Confirmed Specs and Powertrain Expectations

The CARB listing confirms two critical details: the bike’s inertial mass is 370 kg, and it will be powered by a 1,099cc inline-four, liquid-cooled engine. While the official power figures aren’t out yet, it’s safe to expect a street-tuned engine that balances high-revving performance with real-world usability—similar to the 134 bhp and 113 Nm output seen on the Ninja and Versys 1100.

Features and Tech Loadout

As a flagship streetfighter, the Z1100 is expected to be loaded with advanced features: a full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity, multiple riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, and possibly even semi-active suspension. These inclusions point to Kawasaki’s intent to position this bike as a premium performance machine.

Launch Timeline and Market Positioning

The Kawasaki Z1100 is expected to be unveiled globally by late 2025—most likely at EICMA—and enter international markets by early 2026. For India, it will likely arrive as a completely built unit (CBU) by late 2026 or early 2027. The Z1100 will sit between the Z900 and the supercharged Z H2 in Kawasaki’s global lineup.

Conclusion: A Power-Packed Streetfighter is Coming

The upcoming Kawasaki Z1100 is shaping up to be a worthy successor to the iconic Z1000. With a new 1099cc engine, premium electronics, and aggressive naked styling, it aims to redefine street performance in the litre-class segment. Positioned between the Z900 and Z H2, this flagship naked promises to be a head-turner and a heart-pounder when it debuts in 2025.
