Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer River has announced a major update for its flagship electric scooter, the River Indie. Starting October 1, 2025, customers will now be able to enjoy an 8-year or 80,000 km extended warranty on the scooter’s battery and motor. This new program applies to both new buyers and existing owners, making it one of the most comprehensive warranties in the Indian EV two-wheeler market.
Extended Warranty Program Details
The 8-year/80,000 km warranty ensures long-term peace of mind for River Indie owners. Coverage includes protection if the battery’s state of health drops below 70% or if the motor fails even after repair attempts.
- New customers (purchases made since April 1, 2025): Rs. 8,399 + GST
- Existing 5-year warranty holders: Upgrade to 8 years for Rs. 3,399 + GST
- Upgrade window: One month only for existing extended warranty customers
This initiative reflects River’s strong focus on brand reliability and customer-first solutions.

Benefits for Existing Customers
Owners who already opted for the company’s 5-year extended warranty can now switch to the new 8-year plan at a reduced cost. This limited-time upgrade ensures that early adopters of the River Indie are not left behind, reinforcing customer loyalty.

River Indie’s Market Impact
The River Indie has quickly become a popular electric scooter in India, even winning the Scooter of the Year Award at the car&bike Awards 2024. With its strong design, urban practicality, and now longest-in-class warranty, the River Indie continues to position itself as a reliable EV choice for Indian riders.
River currently operates 32 stores across 15 cities, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Mysuru. The company aims to expand to all major Indian cities by 2026 through a mix of company-owned outlets and dealership partners.
Looking Ahead
River’s decision to roll out an industry-leading 8-year warranty underscores its commitment to long-term customer satisfaction. With plans to introduce its second product in 2026, River is solidifying its presence as one of the most promising electric two-wheeler brands in India.
