The BMW Skytop Roadster was first introduced as a concept earlier this year at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Initially, there were doubts about whether the car would make it to production. However, BMW has officially confirmed that the Skytop Roadster will enter limited production, with just 50 units planned. Interestingly, all 50 cars have already been reserved by eager buyers.

Performance:

Powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, the same one used in the M8, the BMW Skytop Roadster delivers an impressive 617 bhp. This powerhouse enables the roadster to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in a blistering 3.3 seconds. The engine is paired with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, while BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system ensures optimal power distribution across all four wheels.

Exterior Design:

The two-seater Skytop Roadster draws heavy design inspiration from BMW’s legendary roadsters like the BMW 507 and Z8. Its aggressive front profile is highlighted by thin, sharp LED headlights, while the bold creases along the car’s sides add to its dynamic look. To maintain a seamless aesthetic, traditional door handles have been replaced with sleek winglets for a more streamlined appearance.

Unique Paint Scheme:

One of the standout features of the BMW Skytop is its bespoke “Floating Sundown Silver” paint finish, complete with a chrome shadow effect. This exclusive paintwork perfectly complements the reddish-brown removable roof panels, which are wrapped in synthetic leather. The roof panels can be manually removed and neatly stored in a dedicated compartment in the boot. BMW has emphasized that the intricate colour gradient of the paint was applied entirely by hand.

Interior Design:

The Skytop Roadster’s interior boasts a luxurious reddish-brown finish that matches the roof, creating a cohesive aesthetic. A crystal-like gear selector adds a touch of elegance, and the cabin is equipped with top-tier features such as a premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system and BMW’s full-colour Head-Up Display. Overall, the interior layout mirrors the design language seen in BMW’s current 8 Series models, ensuring a blend of familiarity and luxury.

Conclusion

In summary, the BMW Skytop V8 Roadster, once a concept, is now set for an exclusive production run of just 50 units, all already claimed by eager buyers. With its powerful 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, striking design inspired by iconic BMW roadsters, and a bespoke “Floating Sundown Silver” paint finish, the Skytop Roadster combines cutting-edge performance with handcrafted luxury. Its refined interior, complete with premium features and a unique crystal-like gear selector, further enhances the driving experience, making this limited-edition model a masterpiece of engineering and design.
