Mahindra: New Sub-Brands: BE and XEV Explained

Mahindra’s new electric lineup is divided into two distinct sub-brands. The BE range will feature ground-up EV models, while the XEV line will offer electric versions of existing ICE (internal combustion engine) models. Both sub-brands are built on Mahindra’s innovative INGLO platform, designed for superior EV performance.

Interior Highlights from the Teaser

XEV 9e: Triple-Screen Tech and Premium Details

The XEV 9e interior teaser showcases a high-tech triple-screen setup, including:

  • Digital Driver’s Display: Essential driving data at your fingertips.
  • Central Touchscreen: Intuitive access to media, navigation, and climate control.
  • Passenger Display: Additional information and entertainment options for passengers.

In addition, the XEV 9e’s panoramic sunroof, dual-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, and premium materials create a modern, spacious cabin feel.

BE 6e: Sleek Dual-Screen Layout

The BE 6e offers a streamlined dual-screen setup, with a driver’s display and a central touchscreen. Like the XEV 9e, it features a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo and a panoramic sunroof, highlighting its premium design.

Exterior Design Elements of Mahidra XEV 9e and BE 6e

Both the XEV 9e and BE 6e embody a coupe-like SUV silhouette, closely resembling their concept versions. The BE 6e boasts a sharp, angular look with a pointed bonnet, C-shaped LED DRLs, and a sleek bumper, while the XEV 9e has distinct inverted L-shaped LED DRLs and connected LED tail lights for a dynamic, contemporary look.

Premium Features & Safety Equipment

Both electric SUVs come packed with advanced features:

  • Climate Control: Multi-zone AC to ensure comfort across the cabin.
  • Wireless Phone Charging & Audio: A wireless phone charger and a premium audio system are standard.
  • Seating Comfort: Ventilated, powered seats elevate the cabin’s luxury.
  • Safety Package: Both models are expected to include 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for enhanced safety.

The XEV 9e may also feature vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality and multiple regenerative braking modes.

Powertrain and Range Expectations

While specific motor details are yet to be confirmed, Mahindra has revealed potential battery configurations:

  • XEV 9e: Options for 60 kWh and 80 kWh battery packs, supporting ranges up to 500 km, with both RWD and AWD versions.
  • BE 6e: Likely to feature a 60 kWh battery pack with an estimated range of 450 km and similar RWD and AWD capabilities.

Expected Price and Competitors of Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6e

  • XEV 9e: Expected starting price of ₹38 lakh (ex-showroom), rivaling the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV.
  • BE 6e: Estimated starting price of ₹24 lakh (ex-showroom), competing with the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Maruti eVX, and Hyundai Creta EV.

Conclusion

The Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6e bring premium features, advanced safety, and EV-specific tech to the Indian electric vehicle market. With the debut on November 26, Mahindra is set to impress EV enthusiasts with innovative design, enhanced comfort, and competitive pricing. Stay tuned as Mahindra’s BE and XEV models redefine electric luxury and performance in the SUV segment.
