Nissan has showcased its upcoming lineup of electric vehicles, featuring the all-new Micra EV and the third-generation Leaf. The Japanese automaker aims to strengthen its EV portfolio in Europe, with the Micra EV launching this year and the Juke electric compact crossover set for 2026.
Nissan Micra EV: A Compact Hatchback Goes Electric

For the first time, the Nissan Micra has gone fully electric in its fifth generation. It will be offered with two battery options—40kWh and 52kWh—with the latter providing a range of over 400km on a single charge. Nissan has not yet disclosed power and torque figures.

The Micra EV is built on the CMF-BEV platform, sharing its underpinnings with the Renault 5. As part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, the Micra EV will be manufactured in France by Renault.

The Micra EV carries over design cues from the motorsport-inspired 20-23 EV concept. Notable features include circular LED headlights shaped like Nissan’s logo, gloss-black cladding on the wheel arches, and a revised front bumper with silver trim replacing the concept’s light strip. Traditional side mirrors replace the concept’s slimmer ones, and the rear spoiler has been removed. However, Nissan has yet to reveal its interior.
Third-Generation Nissan Leaf: A Practical Electric SUV

Nissan has confirmed that the new Leaf will offer an impressive range of over 598km. While the exact battery specifications remain undisclosed, Nissan’s global planning officer, Francois Bailly, emphasized the importance of long highway driving for the model.
Platform & Manufacturing
The third-gen Leaf will use the CMF-EV platform, which also underpins the Nissan Ariya. Production will take place at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, the UK’s largest car manufacturing facility.

For the first time, Nissan has revealed the production-spec Leaf EV. The model has undergone a major transformation, adopting a compact SUV-like stance. While the all-electric Micra and new Leaf will not make their way to India, Nissan has confirmed new internal combustion engine (ICE) models for the market. The company plans to introduce a Renault Triber-based MPV in 2025 and a Hyundai Creta rival in 2026.
