Tata Motors’ winning streak in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) continues, with the Tata Curvv receiving a prestigious five-stars rating for both adult and child occupant protection. First launched as an all-electric model in August, the Curvv joins Tata’s lineup of highly rated vehicles, including the Harrier, Safari, Punch EV, and Nexon models. Both the ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric versions of the Curvv excelled in crash tests, scoring high across the board to secure their five-star rating

Tata Curvv ICE Crash Test Scores

The internal combustion engine (ICE) variant of the Curvv achieved five stars in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, scoring 29.50 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection. The Accomplished Plus A diesel-manual variant was tested, with the vehicle performing strongly in both frontal and side impact tests. It scored 14.65 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 14.85 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. Protection for the driver and front passenger was deemed mostly “good” or “adequate,” except for the driver’s left shin, which was rated as “marginal.”

Child Occupant Protection in Tata Curvv ICE

For child occupant protection, the Curvv ICE scored an impressive 43.66 points out of 49. Rearward-facing child restraint systems were installed for both an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old dummy in the rear seats. The dynamic score for child protection reached 22.66 out of 24, with the vehicle assessment score at 9 out of 13. Additionally, the child restraint installation was awarded full marks—12 out of 12 points. These scores apply to all ICE variants of the Curvv.

Tata Curvv EV Outperforms ICE Version in Crash Tests

While both versions of the Curvv achieved five stars, the electric version (EV) edged out the ICE model with a higher score of 30.81 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection. The Empowered Plus A 55 kWh variant was tested, earning 15.66 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.15 points in the side barrier test. Protection for the driver and front passenger was rated as “good,” with shin protection rated “adequate.”

Tata Curvv EV’s Strong Child Protection Scores

The Curvv EV scored higher than its ICE counterpart, with 44.83 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. Rearward-facing child restraint systems were used for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies. Notably, the 18-month-old dummy scored a full 12 points in dynamic performance, contributing to an overall dynamic score of 23.83 out of 24. The vehicle assessment score remained 9 out of 13, with child restraint installation also receiving a perfect score of 12 out of 12 points. These results apply to all variants of the Curvv EV.

Tata Curvv: Safety Features and Pricing

Both the ICE and EV variants of the Tata Curvv come with a comprehensive list of standard safety features, including six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, hill hold control, three-point seat belts for all passengers, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Prices for the ICE variant start at Rs 10 lakh and go up to Rs 19 lakh, while the Curvv EV is priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh

Conclusion

The Tata Curvv, in both its ICE and EV forms, has solidified Tata Motors’ reputation for safety excellence by securing five-star ratings in Bharat NCAP crash tests. With top-tier scores for both adult and child occupant protection, the Curvv demonstrates impressive performance across various crash test scenarios. The EV model slightly outperformed the ICE version, further enhancing Tata’s standing in the electric vehicle segment. Equipped with advanced safety features as standard, and priced competitively, the Curvv continues Tata’s stellar run in producing reliable, secure vehicles that prioritize passenger safety.
