Kia has announced a voluntary recall of 1,380 units of the EV6 electric SUV in India, which were manufactured between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023. The recall is aimed at updating the software in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) to enhance the performance of the 12V auxiliary battery.

Kia’s Communication with Owners

Kia has confirmed that it will be reaching out to affected owners to inform them about the recall process and guide them through the necessary software update.

Previous Recall of the Kia EV6

Interestingly, this is not the first recall for the Kia EV6. In July 2024, Kia recalled 1,138 units of the model manufactured within the same timeframe due to a potential ICCU issue that could stop charging the 12V auxiliary battery. The problem was also addressed via a software update as part of a larger global recall, which affected over 48,000 EV6 units in the US.

Kia EV6 in India: A Quick Overview

The Kia EV6 was launched in India in June 2022 as the brand’s first-ever all-electric offering in the country. By November 2023, Kia India announced that it had successfully sold 1,000 units of the EV6.

Kia EV6 Facelift: What’s New?

At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Kia unveiled the facelifted EV6, featuring a larger 84 kWh battery pack, which replaces the outgoing 77.4 kWh unit. The updated battery pack extends the driving range to 650 km, making it a more practical EV option. Additionally, the EV6 facelift supports ultra-fast charging, achieving 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes with a 350 kW DC charger. Mechanically, it retains the same powertrain options as the previous model.

What Should Kia EV6 Owners Do?

If you own a Kia EV6 manufactured between March 2022 and April 2023, Kia will contact you regarding the ICCU software update. Owners can also reach out to Kia service centers for more details.
