Skoda Auto has expanded its global footprint by inaugurating a new assembly plant in Vietnam. The facility, located in Quang Ninh province, will assemble Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units of the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan, sourced from Skoda’s logistics center in Pune, India. The move aims to strengthen Skoda’s position in the ASEAN market.
Skoda Kushaq and Slavia Production in Vietnam
The first vehicle to roll off the assembly line is the Kushaq SUV, with Slavia’s production set to begin later this year. The new assembly facility is equipped with a welding shop, a paint shop, and a final assembly line. Additional infrastructure includes a quality control center, a precision measurement facility, and a test track spanning nearly two kilometers.
Exclusive Features for the Vietnamese Market
The Vietnam-spec Kushaq and Slavia models will be left-hand drive and will feature upgrades such as:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Premium Leather Upholstery
These features are not available in their Indian counterparts, making them more appealing to the Vietnamese market. Additionally, Skoda continues to offer the imported Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs in Vietnam.
Extensive Testing for Reliability
Before entering the Vietnamese market, Skoda plans to conduct extensive testing of the Kushaq, covering over 3.30 lakh kilometers. Similar rigorous testing protocols will apply to other models assembled at the plant.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, expressed confidence in the company’s future in Vietnam, stating:
